Each horse at Dark Horse Rescue (DHR) has a unique story. In some instances we are given detailed information on their background, yet usually we get very little regarding their history. Horses enter our program through court ordered seizure, owner surrender, or because they have been abandoned. Upon entry, every horse is carefully evaluated. A medical, nutritional and training plan is implemented based upon individual need. Volunteers work with horses daily to rebuild trust that has often been lost along the way. Horses may enter DHR with a dark past, but they always leave with a bright future.
